Norbert J. McNett Jr., 71, of Sylvania, passed away July 9, 2020 at his home. Norbert was born August 20, 1948 in Toledo to Norbert and Betty (Kardatzke) McNett.
As a child and teen he loved working at his grandma and grandpa's farm in Hudson, MI. Norbert graduated from Northview High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He often talked about being stationed on Midway Island and was trained to be a fire fighter.
He married Carol A. Randolph on June 8, 1974. Together they had three children. Norbert worked for Teledyne CAE as a technician. He was also a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Sylvania Twp. Fire Dept.
Norbert was a member of A.L.E.R.T., a CB radio group. Norbert loved model railroading and often went train watching with his best friend, Dave Rawson. He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping.
Norbert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Norbert and Betty McNett.
Surviving is his spouse, Carol (Randolph) McNett; children, Jodi (Steve), Kevin (Emily), and Todd; 4 grandchildren, Skylar, Connor, Ethan, and Logan.
The family will receive guests Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road. Funeral Services will be private for the family. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania.
Memorial contributions may be made to Aging Care or Vietnam Veterans of America in Norbert's memory.
