Nellis Lane Fairchild

Nellis Lane "Lanie" Fairchild, age 87, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on June 30, 1927 to the late Olen and Maude Fairchild.
Lanie was an Army Air Corps Veteran who served in WWII. He married Irene Stringfield on December 28, 1968. Lanie retired from Art Iron after 37 ½ years. He loved to do woodworking, especially crosses. Lanie and Irene loved to dance, even up to a month ago. They also enjoyed spending their summers camping and spending time with the grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters. Lanie is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Irene; daughters, Peggy and Connie and their families; sons, Timothy (Martha Charles) Stringfield and Michael (Sarah) Fairchild; brother, Olen (Judy); sisters, Mayvella "Honey" Sidel and Bonnie (Richard) Schnapp; special grandchildren, Amelia and Wyatt; many beloved nieces and nephews; goddaughters, Susan Williams and Angela Owen.
The family will receive guests on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pastor Jim Wicker officiating.
