Neal LaRue Jones, age 88, long time resident of Point Place died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 28, 2017. Neal was born March 10, 1929 in Xenia, Ohio to Leon and Bertha Faye (Helterbran) Jones. Married to Alice Jayne Rees on August 22, 1952 they just celebrated their 65th anniversary. He served in the US Army in the signal corp. He was employed with the Libby Owens Ford in research and development and retired from Teledyne as a electronic technician in 1992. Neal was a member of First Christian Church of Sylvania and served as a deacon and part time church photographer. He was also a member of Outings Yacht Club and Ottawa River Yacht Club having served as dockmaster. Neal loved camping, boating and anything electronic. He was also amateur radio operator, WA8KMM, since 1963.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Jayne Jones, daughters, Linda (Dale) Adams, Denise E. Hart, Diana (Mark) MacGregor; grandchildren, Danelle (Aaron) Brister, Christopher (Jessica) Severin, Devon (Edward) Falkenburg and 4 other grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and sister, Joanne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter, Makena and a niece, Amy.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 11:00 am. at the funeral home with Dr. Joseph Hara officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
