Natalie Nicole Schoendorf-Comstock

March 2, 1976 — July 2, 2024

Natalie Nicole Comstock (Schoendorf) passed away unexpectedly July 2, 2024 at her home in Berea, OH. Natalie was born on March 2, 1976 in Toledo, OH. As a toddler, Natalie enjoyed carrying around her "BIG BIRD" stuffed animal! A huge fan of Sesame Street! She also loved Mickey Mouse, thrilled to have been to Walt Disney World twice as an adult! Growing up, Natalie attended Dorr Elementary where she was gifted, fiercely independent and smart as a whip. Natalie loved being a big sister to her brother Nick and sister Nadya, often acting as a 2nd mother. Her childhood lifelong best friend Julie, was like a sister. The family have fond memories spending time together at Bay Point Beach, family vacations and having many many belly laughing sessions. Natalie was a girl scout, cheerleader, cheerleading coach and played softball coached by her dad. Natalie was a huge Madonna and New Kids on the Block fan. As a teen Natalie enjoyed hanging out with her friends and working hard at several jobs. Natalie attended Springfield High School, class of 1994, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and loved being a cheerleader for the Springfield Ice Hockey team. Natalie couldn't wait to see her friends this July at her 30th class reunion.

Natalie attended The University of Toledo and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a 4th grade teacher at Dorr Elementary, and also taught at Archbold schools and Westside Montessori where she loved all of her students. Natalie received her Master's Degree in Education at the University of Toledo. She also studied at Bowling Green State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Psychology and Education Specialist Degree. She was a school physiologist with the Lucas County Educational Service Center at Washington Local Schools.

Natalie met the love of her life Mike Comstock, they married and were blessed with 2 children Evan and Isabella who meant the world to her. Her career was cut short in 2010 due to a massive stroke as a result of Type 1 Diabetes and MoyaMoya disease. Given only a small chance to survive, Natalie fought a long miraculous recovery and was still fighting to live her best life with faith, courage, strength and resilience. Despite the difficulties from the stroke, including Natalie's right arm paralysis and aphasia, she was a positive inspiration to all. She had many doctors, nurses, and therapists at the Cleveland Clinic and Toledo area helping her recovery, as well as support from groups such as The DaZy Center at University of Toledo, The Ability Center in Sylvania, OH, Aphasia Recovery Connection and HansonHouse Traumatic Brain Injury Club in Berea, OH that Natalie loved and cherished and we are forever grateful for them. Natalie enjoyed volunteering for the Kiwanis Aktion Club where she was a member. She began each day watching Good Morning America and attended a coffee group twice a week with great friends who were there for her in many ways. She had special friends Vivian, Anita & Janice who were her guardian angels and so many friends from church. She was a devoted church member at Christ Church in Columbia Station, where she was so blessed to be baptized.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Evan & Isabella who were her pride and joy; former husband Mike; devoted parents, Tom and Ginger Schoendorf; loving siblings, Nick (Terra) Schoendorf and Nadya (Jim) Sosbe; nieces and nephews, Bailey, Lane, CJ, Miranda, Jimmy, Savannah, Hudson, Julianna, Olivia, Shelby, Zack and Ashley who she adored being an aunt to; plus aunts, uncles and many cousins, along with special friends whom she loved dearly. Natalie's caring manner, kindness and sweet smile were contagious. She loved to help people. As her dear cousin stated, “Natalie was such a gentle soul who lit up every room, smart, feisty, and hilarious!” She will be dearly missed by all and kept in our hearts forever.
