Nancy L. (Riebesehl) Spychalski, age 78, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, January 26, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 4, 1939 and raised in Holgate, Ohio.
Nancy was very artistic and was involved with the Toledo Arts Guild and she made and sold ceramic art pieces for many years. She had many talents including cross-stitching, knitting, and crocheting. Nancy also played Bunco with a special group of friends for over 50 years. Surprising her whole family, she became very tech savvy; she could figure everything out, new television and computer technology. She spent as much time as she needed to learn how to use cell phones and enjoyed facetiming on her iPad with her grandson Josh. She loved using Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends.
She and Ray enjoyed traveling and visited Ireland, France, Germany, England, Austria and were avid leaf peepers. They traveled all over the United States vacationing frequently when they were both in good health.
Nancy was married July 13, 1957 to Ray Spychalski, who passed away just this past September. They met in Napoleon where Nancy waited tables and Ray worked at Campbell Soup. They have 4 children, Judith (Dave) Wahlgren, Deborah Spychalski, Scott (Ericka) Spychalski and Brian (Beth) Spychalski; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home led by her grandson, Matthew Wahlgren. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Parish, 5522 Dorr St., Toledo, OH 43615. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
