Nancy came into this world on September 27, 1942 and left it, surrounded by her loving family on September 16, 2012.
Anyone who knew Nancy couldn't help but feel the love, compassion and concern she had for them. She always said, "interesting people are interested," and she truly was interested in all of those she cared about. If you were lucky enough to be part of her life, you already know this.
Her love and compassion also drew her to animals. She was a docent at The Toledo Zoo for 28 years, where she loved educating others about "her animals."
Nancy also loved to travel. When we were kids, mom and dad would load up the station wagon and we would take family trips all of the time and travel to places like California, Florida and Arizona. To mom and dad, it wasn't a vacation if it wasn't with the family. That carried through our lives as we went on many family vacations, now with the grandkids too. The Wisconsin Dells, Myrtle Beach and Washington D.C., were our most recent trips together. In the near future, we will honor a wish of mom's for all of us to go back to Hawaii as a family. Of all of their travels, Hawaii held some of the sweetest memories for mom and dad.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Elwyn and Ruth (Schumann) Newbury. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, Lee; her three children, Cindy (life partner, Barb), Sheri (Kenny) Pool and Dave; four beautiful grandchildren, Matt, Jenni, Nikki and Brian; brother, Dave (Carol) Newbury and her furry children, Beanie, Daisy and Cassie.
Of all things mom loved so deeply, none was so deep than the love for her family. We will continue to honor her life with every day that passes.
In Nancy's honor, please consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio for any memorial contributions so that other loving families who may have to go through this can have their own, "angels on earth."
The family will receive guests on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
We would like to thank mom's nurses and the entire staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. They were our, "angels on earth," with the compassion and care that they showed for mom and our family during this otherwise unbearable time.
