Mr. Claire E. Cole, age 81, died Friday evening, May 25, 2007 at Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. He was born on December 13, 1925 to Minnier and Irene (Fausnaugh) Cole and spent much of his youth in the Trilby area. After serving his country honorably in the Army during WWII, he returned home and married Mildred Beckwith on September 20, 1947. An avid outdoorsman, Claire enjoyed hunting and fishing until his son-in-law Terry introduced him to the game of golf. He was hooked from then on. After retiring, he and his wife served as the custodians of Boulevard Church of Christ, Sylvania, OH for many years.
Claire was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred in January of 2003, his parents, his step-mother, Geneva (Ohlemacher) Cole, brothers, Robert and Minor, Jr., sister, Francis Graven. Step-sister, Betty Clay and beloved grandson Kevin Cole, Jr. Surviving to keep his memory alive include daughters: Pamela (Terry) Riek, of Perrysburg, Julie (Greg) Lewis, of Toledo and son, Kevin (Ros) Cole, of Grand Lake, CO; grandchildren: Patrick and Kristen Lewis, Deana Rush, Morrison, CO; and great-grandchildren: Rachel Rush, Devin and Danika Yee.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, (419-473-0300) from 2 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
