Mountaha Eid Asmar (Mouna), 84, beloved mother, passed away early Thursday morning June 9, 2022 after her battle with Alzheimer's. She was surrounded by her family at home in Sylvania, Ohio.
Mouna was born to Abdullah Eid and Salime Tebechrani Eid in Kab Elias, Lebanon on May 10, 1938, and was raised there, along with her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Over the years, she shared many stories of working on a farm, going to school and church, and growing up sharing life with her family, friends and many relatives.
She moved to the United States in the early 1970s to be closer to her sister and family, who lived in Ashland, Virginia and worked as a seamstress.
In June 1975, she married the late Toufic Asmar in Ashland, Virginia and then relocated to Toledo, Ohio shortly after and started a family before moving to Sylvania, where they settled for the remainder of their time.
She was preceded in death by her father in Lebanon, her mother, sister Marie Jabbour and sister Martha Shukrallah and her husband.
Mouna is survived by her brothers, Halim and Youssef Eid in Australia, her daughter and husband, Jenny Asmar and Steven Shimel and her granddaughter, Delilah Shimel.
She was a loving mother and friend who loved to cook, sew, garden, attend church, travel, and laugh. She always made everyone feel welcome and didn't allow others to leave without a proper meal or coffee. She loved her family, friends, and relatives deeply and will be missed tremendously by those who knew her.
The family would like to give special thanks to Memory Lane Adult Day Center, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, our dear friend, Sandy Turk, and cousin, Samar Katra-Wehbe for their generosity and loving care.
