On Sunday, February 21st, 2010 the Lord called Sister Mollie D. (Oliver) Kirtz home from her earthly labors to rest. Sister Kirtz was born May 23, 1931, to the union of Dudley Oliver and Gertrude (Nunn) in Macon, Mississippi. The Lord blessed Sister Kirtz to be 78 years of age at the time of her passing. She moved to Toledo, Ohio and married W C Kirtz in 1950.
Sister Kirtz received an associate in Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Development from Owens Community College in 1974 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Toledo in 1978. She worked in the Fulton County regular and migrant Head Start Programs and as a substitute teacher with the Toledo Public School System until her retirement. She was an active member of the Daughters of I.B.P.O.E. of the World. She served as a past Grand Daughter Ruler and Directress of the Civil Liberties Department. She loved to sing and she was an avid reader but most of all, she loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Mary and son John. She leaves to celebrate her home-going her daughters, Wanda (Joseph) Tanksley, Zandra (John) Vaughn of Arlington, TX, Rhonda of Anchorage, AK, Dora (Albert), sons, Patrick (Lisa) of Las Vegas, NV, Michael, James (Lisa) of Greensboro, NC, Gilliam James Jr.; grandchildren, Landis, Richard, Joseph, Jermaine, Brandon, Patrick Jr., Lerrell, Justin, Shauntea, Rhonda Rae, Tori and great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Landis Jr., Richard Jr., Angel, Thelma, Curtis, Corey, Tayjohn, Aiden, Cameron, Izayah, Precious, Darius and special friends, Jenny Brisbane, Betty Harris and Laurette Hyde for their excellent care.
The family will receive guests Thursday, February 25th, 2010, from 2-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Jairus H. Everett, Pastor, Zion Hill Baptist Church, officiate.
