Milton O. "Digger" Strawser, age 88, of Point Place, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on June 13, 1928 to John and Alice (McCombs) Strawser in Marion. Digger was a graduate of Woodward High School, Class of 1946 and he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In his younger years he was a boxer with Golden Gloves. He retired from Detroit and Toledo Shoreline Railroad after 35 years. Digger was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Harbor Light Masonic Lodge where he was also a 60 year member. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, tending to his yard and pond and rooting for his favorite football teams.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 32 years, Gloria (Ashton) Strawser; children, Connie (Joe) Rischman of Texas and Bonnie (Monte) Lutz of Utah; step-children, Julie (Mark) Allen, Barbara Morris and Jill Hooton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Ruthella Garwacki; many nieces and nephews and canine companion, Mindy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Dale A. Strawser; two step-sons, Jack and Guy Palmer; two brothers, Gerald and Richard Strawser.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
