Milton O. Smith

Milton O. Smith, age 78, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born March 25, 1930 to Homer and Isabelle (Slider) Smith in Toledo. Milton was a U.S. veteran of the Marines, serving his country proudly for more than 20 years. He was a also a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. After retiring from the military, Milt became a lifetime member of the Purple Heart Society, the DAV, VFW and the Semper Fidelis Leauge. He was an avid camper, spending a lot of time in Brownsville, Texas. Milt enjoyed spending time with family and friends and also his beloved cat, "Sassy".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 16 years, Geraldine Smith. Milt is survived by his loving family including his children, Jennifer (Dennis) Denson; Doug (Sarah) Smith; Rebecca (Tim) Topp and Jon (Patti) Smith; siblings, Viola Light; Pete Smith and Charlotte Light; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; best friend, John Brifnek and many extended family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Lauman. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
