Michael "Mike" Veitch, age 69, of Sylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at home. He was born on June 3, 1953 to Rex and Louise (McLean) Veitch in Toledo. Mike loved the outdoors, hunting and spending his summers at Sunny's Campground. He was a staple for over 20 years, sitting on his porch waving at folks driving by. Mike was very handy and could fix just about anything. He was generous to a fault and would help anyone in need with a project. Mike enjoyed reading westerns and watching crime dramas. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Mike always attended his grandchildren's events; recitals, parades, football games and anything he could. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad, Merle Kennedy; former brother-in-law and friend, Jim Boyer; nephews, Jeremiah Boyer and Robin Hoffer; and longtime friend, Al Skinner. Left to cherish Mike's memory are his loving daughters, Torey Bonde and Tracey (James Norte) Veitch; grandchildren, Tristan, Honna, Preston, and Charlotte; former spouse, Vickie Veitch; siblings, Sue Johnston, Eugene "Gene" Veitch, Geniene Boyer, Rex Veitch, Jr., and Monalee (John) Miles; special cousin, Maria "Toody" Newman; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
