Michael James Thomas

Michael James Thomas, age 67, of Temperance, Michigan, passed away on February 13, 2025, at The Toledo Hospital. He was born on July 21, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late James and Antoinette (Garofalo) Dick. 

A proud graduate of Edsel Ford High School, class of 1975, Michael embarked on a successful career as a sales manager at BDI, where he dedicated many years to his profession and was deeply respected by his colleagues and clients. Alongside his professional endeavors, he found fulfillment in officiating weddings with his wife, guiding couples through one of the most important days of their lives.

Michael's passions extended beyond his career; he was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who cherished mountain biking, spending time at beaches, and immersing himself in the beauty of nature. An avid reader, he often lost himself in books, taking great pleasure in the quiet moments they provided. He also found joy in simple pleasures such as savoring his morning coffee, watching episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Seinfeld," and playing catch with his children.

Faith was a cornerstone of Michael's life, with God being very important to him. He approached each day with gratitude and a sense of purpose, reflecting the values that guided him. 

A man of diverse musical tastes, Michael enjoyed listening to the classic sounds of Elvis and the soulful melodies of The Mavericks. His love for animals was evident in the care he showed toward them, reflecting his kind-hearted nature.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, a testament to the impactful moments he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His gentle spirit and generous heart will be missed by family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched throughout his journey. May his memory continue to inspire and remind us all of the importance of caring for others and embracing the beauty of life.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Pam (Olmstead) Miller, whom he fell in love with in 2007 and got married on October 29, 2013; two sons from a previous marriage, Ryan Thomas and Kevin Thomas; two sons with Pam, Brayden Thomas and Chandler Thomas; along with many other loved ones and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peter and Josephine Garofalo; and his aunt, Rose Kruse.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio, 43623, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Michael’s memorial service will begin at 7:00 pm.
