He attended St. Patrick of Heatherdowns elementary school and graduated from St. John’s Jesuit High School in 1990, where he was a founding member of the rowing team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Bowling Green State University. He began his career with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission as a college intern and went on to work at the agency for more than 20 years as an investigator.
A passionate runner and cyclist, Mike completed two Ironman Triathlons and many marathons. He also enjoyed the outdoors, golf, and dabbled in fly fishing. Mike was generous, loved to bargain hunt, and organized Christmas gift drives for those in need. He was a dog lover who was adopted by a stray cat, Frankie, in recent years.
He is survived by his loving parents, Melvin and Paulette Kwiatkowski; his sister, Kristen Fritz (Brian); brother, Steven (Molly); nephews Peter and Joseph Fritz, and niece Laney Kwiatkowski.
Private funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Maumee, and he is interred at St. Joseph Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in Mike’s honor to the Aurora Project (auroraprojectinc.org).
