Michael J. Voorhees

Michael J. "Mike" Voorhees, age 73, of Toledo, passed away June 25, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1943 to Leonard and Patricia (Fitzgerald) Voorhees in Toledo. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam era. He was employed with Gulf Oil Refinery retiring after 13 years of service. Mike then went on to care for Terry and Mark, their sons, for many years until the time of their passing. He loved collecting his antique metal signs and spending time on the pontoon boat with his family. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sons, Terry and Mark. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia "Pat" (Nagy) Voorhees; daughter, Michelle (Ben) LaPointe; mother, Patricia Voorhees; sisters, Susie (Joe) Brzezowiez and Kathy (Jeff) Myers; brother, Joe (Nancy) Voorhees; feline companion, Colby Jack; canine companion, Orphan Annie; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
