Michael J. Stampflmeier

Michael J. Stampflmeier, age 91, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014. He was born on March 16, 1923 to Michael and Theresa (Fuchs) Stampflmeier in Toledo, OH.
Although he quit school after the 8th grade, Michael made his career in the machine shop. He apprenticed with his brother-in-law, George Hurm. He then went to work at Doehler Jarvis, when he was laid off he started working for Owens Illinois, where he retired from in 1982.
On August 16, 1947 he married Joan Wells in Toledo and they were married for 63 years before she passed in 2011. After retirement, Michael and Joan enjoyed many years together at Evans Lake, MI.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Janet (Lee) Kwasniak, Richard (Shirley) Stampflmeier and Thomas (Judy) Stampflmeier; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Judith Burk; 2 half-brothers, William and Edward Schnee; 2 half sisters, Marie Hurm and Julia Puls and 2 sisters, Rose Brooks and Theresa Thetford.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
