Michael J. "Mike" Greenwood, age 52, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 1, 2015. He was born on November 29, 1962 to Jim and Barb (Bishop) Greenwood in Toledo, Ohio.
Officer Greenwood began his law enforcement career in 1984, joining the Lucas County Sheriff's Office as a corrections officer and later serving as deputy. He joined the Toledo Police Department in October, 1992. Throughout his career with the T.P.D. he was awarded the distinguished service medal in 1996 for saving an elderly woman from a house fire.
Some of Mike's interests were watching baseball and rooting for the New York Yankee's. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two children which he was very involved with their lives and school activities. Mike will be remembered for his dedication to his family, humble spirit, sense of humor and willingness to help others in need.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 28 years, Carla (Cramer) Greenwood; children, Brent and Heather Greenwood; parents, James (Barbara) Greenwood; father and mother in law, Carlton (Juanita) Cramer; brothers, William and Mark (Kim) Greenwood; nephew, Jacob Greenwood and niece, Kaylee Greenwood; brother in law, Buckley Cramer; sister in law, Laurie (Ron) Osmena; closest friends, Jeff (Christi) Kozak and Ed Mack; furry friends, Brownie and Diesel; aunts, uncles, cousins and host of dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
One of "Dice Man's" requests was that any of the guests and Department Family that attend his visitation or funeral service, please dress comfortably and casually. If you have any sporting team t-shirts, please wear them.
In lieu of flowers, in memory of Mike, please take the time to spend with your family and especially your children and watch them grow.
