It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael David Humphrey, 88 years old of Swanton, Ohio. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 14, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on October 22, 1936 in Boonville, Missouri to Henry and Francis Margaret (Bowman) Humphrey. He graduated from Maumee High School, Class of 1954.
He is survived by his loving children: Molly (Jim) Montgomery, Amy Yockey, Jason (Tammy) Humphrey, Sara (Joseph) Harris and Henry Humphrey. Grandchildren: Christy Montgomery, Nicole and Jimmy Montgomery, Lee Jr., Matthew, Austin and Meaghan Yockey, Codi, Brittany, and Benjamin Humphrey, Josiah and Elijah Harris, Maggie, Luke, and Grace Humphrey; 23 great grandchildren; his caring siblings, Elaine (Clem) Brown-Suski, Delia (Gary) Parker, Chris Waldbursser and Jake Neph.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Garnet Ann (Neph) Humphrey of 62 years and true soulmate. He is also preceded in death by his son’s, Scott and Zachary Humphrey; grandson, Jason Charles Humphrey; siblings, Bob Humphrey, Larry Brown, Kathy Current and Bob Waldursser.
He leaves behind a legacy of skills and craftmanship within the HVAC community, as a mentor to his sons, nephews, grandsons and many apprentices throughout his lifetime. A proud member of the Local 50 Pipefitters Union; Knights of Columbus, Elks member, Northern American Hunting Club and Refrigeration Service of Engineers.
He was very mechanically inclined and if he could not fix it, then it was truly broke, he was wise beyond his education and people of all ages and walks of life sought out his advice and benefitted from his counsel. He dearly loved hunting and fishing, tended to Cub Scouts of America with his grandsons
He will be remembered for his wildly entertaining stories, teasing jokes, his unfailing work ethic, and his generous smile along with the LOVE of family and excitement for each great grandbaby Born. He will be forever missed as a man of integrity, a loving and devoted husband and father. May he forever rest in peace.
Per his request, The Family will hold a celebration of life over the summer. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
