It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Allen Herrick, affectionately known as Mike, of Toledo, Ohio. Mike passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 59.
Mike was born on March 20, 1966, in Toledo, Ohio, to Calvin Herrick and Rita (Dreier) Cherry. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1985 to 2005, retiring after 20 years of honorable service as an Information Technologist. He took great pride in his military career and continued his dedication to service through his work as an IT Specialist for the military after retirement.
Mike had a love for games that brought people together. He was an avid player of chess, pool, and darts, and found great joy in friendly competition. He also had a deep appreciation for country music, especially the songs of Reba McEntire, which always brought a smile to his face.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rita Dreier Cherry; his father, Calvin Herrick; his stepfather, Robert Cherry Sr.; his nephew, Angel Garcia; and his stepdaughter, Rayvin Price.
Mike is survived by his children from his first marriage to Kelly Hagen-Herrick: Alyson Leigh Herrick, Mikel Adam Edward Herrick, Emily Tyler Herrick, and Aaron Keith Herrick, all of Summerville, South Carolina; and his wife, Cynthia Herrick and her children, Jayda and Layne. Mike leaves behind his sisters, Stephanie Garcia (Pedro) and Jennifer Trumbull (Tim); his brother, Robert Cherry Jr. (Anna); and many beloved nieces and nephews: Samantha, Katelyn, Catalina, Megan, Miranda, Kelsey, Amanda, Zachary, Bobby, and Pedro Jr. (PJ). He is also remembered with love by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mike’s warmth, sense of humor, and steadfast love for his family will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
