Michael E. Baker, age 56, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born September 3rd, 1954 to William and Pansy "Hilda" (Watkins) Baker in Toledo. Mike was self employed for more than 20 years in the Heating and Air Conditioning Industry with several area contracting companies. He enjoyed fishing and bowling any chance he could. Mike was also a sports enthusiast following the Michigan Wolverines, Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. Recently he became well versed with FaceBook and loved keeping in touch with his family with it. Most importantly, Mike treasured the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. He felt lucky to be a coach for the girls softball program through Washington Local High School Programs, as it allowed him to spend more time with his granddaughter.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, William Baker. He is survived by his mother, Hilda Baker; loving daughter, Angela (Jay Isom) Baker; granddaughter, Kayla "Kaycee" Foreman; sister, Billie (Tony) Szymanski; brother, Melvin Baker and life partner, Rose Duffy. Also surviving are his niece, Rondah Szymanski; extended family, Ieasha (Cory), Regina, Frank "Josh" (Tiffany) and Deon; Joslyn, Jenaia, Jayden, Kaleb; Jacob and Jr. and many dear friends and family.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Toledo.
