Michael J. "Scruffy" DeYoung, age 62, of Camden, MI, formerly of Toledo, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2019 with his loving wife and canine companion Abby by his side. He was born on December 18, 1956 to Robert and Alice (Gray) DeYoung in Toledo. Mike was employed with Jeep for 30 years before retiring. He then went on to work at Kuka for 14 years. Mike enjoyed being on the lake, barefoot water skiing, snowmobiling and riding his Harley. He was an avid dancer and liked to have a good time. Mike loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He always looked forward to family gatherings at the lake, especially Fourth of July. Mike's smile and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan DeYoung. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Sandy DeYoung; her children, Michael, Douglas, and Christopher (Kathy) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Kayla, Michael Jr., Sarah, Libbie, Laci, Lily, and Lydia; great-granddaughter, Ellie; sister, Mary (Tom) Start; brothers, Jim and Tom (Cindy) DeYoung; sister-in-law, Dorothy DeYoung; nieces and nephews, Brette, Jason, Jared, Evan, Stephen, Robert, Brandi, Christina and Cassandra; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
