Michael J. Charchol, age 88, of Toledo, passed away peacefully with his wife and family at his side, Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Northwest Ohio Hospice of Toledo. He was born June 4, 1916 to Michal and Anna (Varady) Chorcholic in Ford City, Pennsylvania. Michael was employed for 35 years with Owens Illinois as a Maintenance Supervisor retiring in 1980. He was a member of Christ the King Church for many years, as well as a member of the Onized Club and the G.B.U. Michael was an outdoorsman as a young boy and continued to enjoy hunting and fishing until recently. He was considered to be a master craftsman designing many toy boxes and cradles for the whole family, as well as building an addition onto the family residence. When it came to building, Michael could create anything. He also took pride in his gardening, caring for his beautiful roses and plentiful tomato plants.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Christine and brother, John Charchol; step-father, Rudy Gallo and step-brother, Bill Gallo. He is survived by his loving wife with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in August, Josephine "Jo" (Klepac) Charchol; children, Michael (Darlene) Charchol; Judy Charchol; Larry Charchol; Darlene Busse and Kimberly (Ray) Kowalinski; grandchildren, Kelly and Michael Charchol; Michael and Brian Busse and Brad and Craig Kowalinski; 6 great grandchildren and sister, Anna Mazur.
The family will receive guests Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Rosary will be recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane. Officiating will be Fr. Mike Brown.
