Michael Lee Boyer, Sr.
November 3, 1957 — August 24, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father on August 24, 2020.
Our beloved father, Michael Lee Boyer Sr., left us in his sleep at his home in his 63rd year.
This tribute is written by his children, Michael Lee Boyer Jr, Helena Boyer, Amanda Boyer and Matthew Boyer.
Our Dad was born on November 3, 1957 and graduated from Northwood High School and worked for Jeep for many years.
Our dad loved to cook meals way too big, watch his grandchildren at play while encouraging their ornery behaviors, because it was " the Boyer" in them. He was a collector. He loved "fine" watches that he had his mother and best friend, Helen Boyer, pick up for him at rummage sales so he could tinker with them. He had a collection of vintage cars, and extensive coin and stamp collections.
Our dad didn't leave behind his famous lasagna recipe he made for us every year on our birthdays since we were little. We will forever cherish our lasagna birthday meal. Birthdays will never be the same.
Our dad knew how to fix everything. From car troubles, to HVAC units, to our personal dilemmas, he was our person. Our go to, Mr. Fix It, problem-solver extraordinaire. He was simply the best.
Our children loved their Papa and he LOVED his grandchildren: Faith, Mason, Sawyer, Mallory and Holly. When our babies saw their Papa, their eyes lit up, as did his. He always showed up with too much sugar and love overflowing.
Our dad was our role model and showed us through his actions the power of philanthropy. In his honor, was ask that you consider the importance of helping others, with your time and or resources. If you are not currently doing so, we ask that you find an organization you are passionate about and become a supporter. Our dad showed us that even the smallest efforts towards helpings others can make a big difference.
Our father is preceded in death with his beloved Yorkshire terrier, Scottie, who was his favorite four-legged child.
Dad is greeted in Heaven by his father, Harold Boyer, brothers Ron (Linda) Boyer, John Boyer and grandson Matthew Boyer Jr.
Dad is survived by the matriarch of the Boyer family, his mother and our grandmother, Helen Boyer and siblings Judy ( Paul) Lewandowski, Jacquline Covarubias, Janice (Sam) Turk, Jerry (Karen) Boyer, Tom ( Charleen) Boyer and son Josh Shinavar.
The family will receive guests Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) Masks are required and proper social distancing will be required. Private services will be held for the family. Interment Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we asks that you send plants so we can keep them alive and always have them as a memory of our father.
