Michael Boerst, 72, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2023 in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Mike had worked at Bostwick-Braun, Abitibi Price, and tended bar at both the Hillcrest Hotel and the Toledo Club downtown. He was especially proud of the work he did at Sunshine Children's Home and the Lucas Board of MRDD, from which he retired.
However, his favorite job of all was that of being father to his two sons; Steven and Mark, who will always remember his kindness, patience and top-notch 'Dad jokes.'
He married the love of his life and best friend, Lynda, on December 18, 1976. They enjoyed spending time at their second home in Florida during the winter seasons and spending as much time as possible with their family.
Mike was born on Halloween in 1950 to his loving parents Lois and Wally Boerst and was the second of five children. He was a huge fan of the Cleveland Indians, the Ohio State Buckeyes and sometimes the Browns. Superhero movies and Pumpkin Spice anything was among his favorite things. He was the king of corny jokes and loved telling many stories of his life, even if you've heard them 100 times before.
He is survived by his loving wife Lynda; sons: Steven (Amanda) Boerst and Mark (Louie) Boerst; grandson: Langston Boerst; brother: Tim (Sherry) Boerst; Sisters: Kendra Pettit and Marsha Boerst; Sister-in-law: Debbie (Tim) Lahote; brother-in-law: Thomas Knight; niece: Isabelle Knight of Denton, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lois Boerst and Wallace Boerst; and brother: Bruce Boerst Sr.
A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at Newcomer Funeral home at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd on Thursday, October 26, from 4-7pm.
