Michael Francis

Michael F. Berning, age 55, of Sylvania, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Flower Hospital. He was born on July 16, 1951 to Francis and Doreen Berning in Toledo. Michael was a graduate of Woodward High School in 1969. He then went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1976 as a missile technician. Michael worked for Unisys Corp. for 27 years and the past year for the City of Toledo Water Division. His hobbies included his love of boats, the water, fishing and wood working. Michael was an excellent father.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doreen Berning. Michael is survived by his loving family, daughter: Leilani Laura Berning and her mother, Molly Smith; father: Francis Berning; sister: Karen (Roger) Reynolds; brothers: Mark and Bruce Berning; many nieces and nephews; and special friend: Carolyn Ignasiak.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300) from 4 – 7:00 p.m. Memorial Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider the American Heart Association.
