Merle R. "Ron" Baumer, Jr., age 71, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Genesis Healthcare of Point Place, under ProMedica Hospice Care. He was born on September 28, 1945 to Merle Sr. and Margaret (Johnson) Baumer in Charleston, South Carolina. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Chrysler TMP and retired after 35 years of service. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching baseball. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, who he loved unconditionally.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Clark; nephew, Kenneth Clark; and former spouse and friend, Beverly Roberts. Ron is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Dave) Arnold; step-children, Robert (Lynne) Bowlin, Debora Bowlin, and Jamie (Cliff) Warstler; grandchildren, Crystal (Jerry) Coleman, and David Arnold, Jr. (Lindsay); 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pam (Don) Lather, Marsha Miller and Lester (LuAnne) Baumer; brother-in-law, Kenneth Clark; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
