Merit Ray Lighthall

Merit Ray Lighthall, age 87, of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Medilodge of Monroe. He was born in Toledo, OH on January 10, 1935. Merit graduated from Waite High School and then also from The Ohio State University where he proudly was in TBDBITL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Merit owned and operated Merit Coffee for many years in Toledo. He was an avid reader and a lover of all animals. Merit was a car enthusiast being a member of the MG Car Club. He also had his pilot's license and was fond of military aircraft. Merit was a fan of Ohio State football and the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed living at Clarklake for over 30 years, taking care of the ducks and geese.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Jean (Black) Lighthall. Left to cherish Merit's memory are his sons, Todd and Michael Lighthall; step-son, Scott (Nancy Reynolds) Marion; and sister-in-law, Virginia "Ginny" Pfaff.

Private Graveside Services will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Ohio State Marching Band or any animal shelter.
