Melvin Fredrick White, age 62, of Petersburg, Michigan., passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born August 15, 1947 to William and Mary (Lick) White in Toledo, Ohio. Melvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Summerfield Baptist Church. For a number of years Melvin was an electrician with General Electric, as well as Holcim Cement Co. in Dundee, Michigan. Melvin will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed coin collecting, dining out with his family and bird watching. Melvin also loved his pet dogs, Tony and Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Lick) White and his maternal grandparents, Eunice and Melvin Lick.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Susan White of Petersburg, MI.; children, Aaron (Tonia) White of Toledo, Sarah (Mike) Moore of Petersburg, MI.; grandchildren, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Jacob, and Samantha; father, William White of CA.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-4:00 p.m. and 5-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Jim McCourt. Internment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
