Melvin R. Brode, age 68, lost his battle with cancer Saturday, November 14th, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Mel was born June 24th, 1941 to Melvin and Marian (Richards) Brode in Toledo. During his years at Rogers High School he was a star halfback and wrestler. Mel became a Journeyman Tool & Dye Maker and Mould Maker working at Toledo Mould, Paben Harlow, Lo Temp Brazing and was also a co-owner of Broland Machine and Tool for 10 years. Mel was a longtime member and officer of the Moose Lodge #713, as well as, a member at The Club. It was virtually impossible to keep Mel off the golf course or a fishing boat, as he loved these pastimes dearly. Mel was truly a giving person and would do anything for his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Michael, Marc and Marisa (Donald); grandchildren, Tyler and Lucas; sister, Beverly (Wayne) and nieces, Tracey (Michael) and Toni (Joshua).
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Mel's life Friday, November 20th, 2009 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge #713, 226 S. Byrne Rd. Toledo, OH 43615.
A special thanks to those who helped during these last difficult months.
