Melvin H. Mazany, Sr., age 88, of Toledo, Ohio passed away February 1, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born October 9, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Dora (Wabel) Mazany. Melvin was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII. He was employed with Wheeling Lake Erie Railroad, Willys Overland and Aklin Stamping as an Inspector for 45 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and a member of the Eagles in Toledo, Ohio. A train enthusiast, Melvin also liked big time wrestling and NASCAR racing.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose M. Mazany; daughter, Patricia A. (Dale) Buehrer; sister, Esther Wheatley; nieces, Veronica (Mike) Hoffman, Sandy McGowan, Linda Moran and Karen Wheatley. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sheline and nephew, John Wheatley.
The family will receive guests Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
