Melvin Eckard

Melvin L. "Mel" Eckard, age 76 of Toledo passed away Monday, September 27, 2010. He was born December 15, 1933 to Paul and Helen (Elliot) Sill in Toledo. Mel proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated over-the-road CDL driver for over 50 years and he continued driving for Johnson Trucking. Mel was a member of the Shoreland Volunteer Fire Department and in his spare time he enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Survivors include his children, Donna Law, Sherry (Tony) Stowe, Lewis (Margie) Eckard, Carol Lewis, Barbara Braden, Tina Milhoan, Sherry Dindal and Greg Coulliette; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Stith and Dorothy Fifer; brother, Paul Sill and special friends Suzy (Jeff) Kerekes.

The family will receive guests Monday from 2-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Sharing of Memories will follow visitation at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
