Melissa Cay Minnfield, beloved daughter, devoted mother, and cherished sister and friend, passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack on July 18, 2024, at the age of 42. She was born on April 24, 1982, to Melvin and Sara Minnfield.
Melissa dedicated her life to serving others, leaving an incredible mark through her work in human services. For over two decades, she tirelessly served the community at the Toledo License Bureau and with Job and Family Services. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her professional life; in June 2016, Melissa earned her Medical Assisting certificate, further demonstrating her passion for aiding those in need.
In her high school years, Melissa distinguished herself as a standout student athlete at Toledo Central Catholic High School. She played a crucial role in the Girls basketball team's impressive achievements, including State championship appearances in 1998 and 1999, as well as consecutive city, sectional, and district championships from 1996 to 2000. Her exceptional contributions to the team earned her a prestigious spot in the Central Catholic Hall of Fame.
Melissa's greatest joy and purpose in life were her five children, Bryan Jr, Camarion, Camaria, Camora, and Corrieon McCoy Also known as: Lil B, Mario, Rita, Bora, and Poof or Boomp as Melissa would call him. Melissa poured her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting her children, living each day passionately for their happiness and well-being.
Melissa is survived by her parents Melvin and Sara Minnfield, father of her children Bryan McCoy Sr., her brother Corey Minnfield (Brandynn), and her sisters Jessica Lewis (Travis), Samantha Minnfield, Daisy Minnfield, and Stormi Ford (Johvon). She also leaves behind three nieces: Asia, Yoda, Adrianne and five nephews: Boobutt, Chulos, Papi, Jojo, and baby J.R. whom she deeply loved and influenced in special ways.
Melissa will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, her compassionate spirit, and her ability to touch the lives of everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and selflessness will continue to inspire those who were privileged to know her.
The repast service to celebrate Melissa's life will be 3pm – 8pm at Aria Banquet Hall 5969 Telegraph Rd. Pavilion Plaza, Toledo oh. 43612.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614.
Melissa will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
