Melba L. Henning, age 93, of Toledo, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at Ebeid Hospice Residence surrounded by loving family. She was born on March 11, 1929 to William Henry and Louise (Schwartz) Clay in Powellton, West Virginia. Melba graduated in 1946 from Stonewall Jackson High School. After marrying her husband, Jack Henning on March 17, 1955 and having her 4 children she went on to obtain her nursing degree to become an LPN. Melba worked as a nurse for 31 years before retiring. She was a past president of the LPN Association. Melba was a longtime member of Lewis Avenue Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, quilting and shopping. Melba loved nothing more than spending time with her family especially her grandsons. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Jack; and brother, William Clay. Left to cherish Melba's memory are her loving children, Angelia (Matt) Schreiner, Jody (Buffy) Henning, Jack Henning and Sue (Tom) Morrissey; grandsons, Evan Schreiner, Michael (Melissa) Henning, Tom (Amy) Morrissey, Aaron (Sarah) Morrissey, Brian Morrissey, and Eric (Eden) Morrissey; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Bryan; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
