McKinley Ford, Sr., age 76, of Sylvania, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 10, 1932 to John, Sr. and Hattie Ford, in Missouri. McKinley worked for the United States Postal Service for over 35 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. McKinley loved bowling, gardening and cooking. He was also a friend of Dr. Bob.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Aaron Ralph Butler and Curly Ford, sister, Mary Jean Johnson and former wife, Veatrice Cozette (Barker) Ford. McKinley is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lois Ford; children, McKinley Ford, Jr., Ramona (Kenneth) Witherspoon, Jacqueline Renee Lee, Myron Edward Ford, Bryan (Anissa) Grimes, Eric Grimes and Bernard (Icee) Ford; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, John Ford, Jr., Kathy (George) Derrico, Charles (Donna) Ford and Robert (Gaynell) Ford; and numerous other extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 445 Dorr St. (at Collingwood), Toledo. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Pastor W. L. Perryman, Jr. and Pastor James Willis. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with arrangements.
