Maxine R. Burgin, of Toledo and formerly of Swanton, OH entered her Heavenly Home with her Lord Jesus on August 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 24, 1926 to Earl and Orizaba King in Marysville, KS. On January 7, 1945 she married, Warren S. Burgin, a soldier stationed at Fort Riley, KS. After the end of WWII they settled on a farm in Swanton, OH where they raised their family, and resided for 31 years. Maxine enjoyed working as the head cook at Swanton Township School for 15 years. She was an active member of the Wilkins United Methodist Church, especially in the children's department. In 1976 they moved to Toledo, where she became an active member of Heatherdowns Church of the Brethren and enjoyed teaching the youth. She had been attending Spirit and Truth Church in Oregon. Maxine and Warren were snowbirds for many years. They travelled in an RV to 43 states enjoying the beautiful scenery. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Maxine loved crocheting, art, playing games and watching all Ohio sports teams.
Maxine is survived by her son, Ronald Burgin and daughters, Suzanne Dollison and Lynne (Mike) Dollison; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Carolyn Davis; brother-in-law, Paul Storehalder and daughter-in-law, Eleanor Burgin and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years; twin son, Donald; great granddaughter, Delaney Rose; son-in-law, Bill; sister-in-law, Joyce; brother-in-law, Floyd and sister, Virginia.
A Celebration of Maxine's Life will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer West Sylvania, 3655 King Road, Toledo (419-392-9500). Private graveside services will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center, 214 South Munson Road, Swanton, OH 43558.
