Maurice G. "Mickey" Farmer Jr., concluded his amazing journey on Earth May 7th, 2022, blessing everyone he met on his path with his zest for life and care for others.
Mickey was born on January 24th, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Maurice G. "Lefty" and Marie (Schlagheck) Farmer. The youngest of 7 children; Nancy, Thomas, Richard, Margaret, Patricia & Marylu. Mickey followed his sibling's path, graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1963. He then served in the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged in 1967 after a tour in Saigon during the Vietnam War.
There were two significant chapters to his life after the military. First was his marriage to his former wife Joy K. (Hazelbaker) Roman in 1966 with whom he fathered 3 sons, Dan (April) Farmer, Edward (Kristin) Farmer and Thomas (Courtney) Farmer. Second was his marriage to the love of his life and widow Claudia "Bobbi" (Clegg) in 1985, from whom he added four step-daughters to his family, Amy (Jimmy) Deiley, Tammy (Randy) Sexton, Andrea (Chad) Rodriguez and Megan (Breck) Burgy.
Mickey built a foundation in Toledo both literally with 7 children and their spouses; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews and figuratively, working almost 40 years pouring concrete for both Huffer Concrete and Kuhlman Corp. He had a passion for fishing, ice hockey, tennis, golf, photography, travel, vinyl, cigars, estate sales and taking care of things himself (for better or worse).
Mickey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to all who had the pleasure to know him. He will be remembered fondly by the countless lives he touched during his time on this earthly plain. Rest in peace Mickey, you've earned it!
A Celebration of Life for Mickey will be held on June 4th, 2022 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at American Legion Hall, 206 South Byrne Rd. Toledo, OH 43615.
