Matthew Benington

Matthew J. Benington passed away unexpectedly at his home. Matt was born in Toledo on December 8, 1972. He was a 1991 graduate of Maumee High School, where he enjoyed great success on the football field being named to the Ohio All Star team for two consecutive years. Matt utilized his skills as a welder to a job he loved at Pioneer Industrial Services.

He is survived by his mother Nancy (Danny) Kapudjija and father Larry (Nancy) Benington; siblings Eric (Brandie) Benington and Molly (Matt) Brixey; and Grandmother Margaret Monahan. He was an uncle to three nieces and one nephew. His beloved dog Chuck was his constant companion.

He loved watching both college football and his Detroit Lions. Matt had a quick wit and strong sense of humor that shaped his fun-loving take on life. Matt will be remembered most for the value he placed on the close and caring friendships he had developed over the years.

The family will remember him in laughter and celebration and have chosen to do this privately. They ask that he is remembered as he would have wanted- make some jokes and tell everyone around you how awesome they are. Those wishing to make donations are asked to consider Lutheran Social Services.
