Matthew A. Veronica, Sr.

Matthew A. Veronica, Sr., passed away Wednesday, February 16th, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 7th, 1960 to Nicholas and Beverly (Burdo) Veronica in Toledo. Matt was a graduate of Rogers High School, Class of 1978. He went on and attended Owens Community College. Matt was employed with the family business, Nick's Music & Games for many years. He married his High School sweetheart Barbara A. (Tesznar) Veronica in 1982 and they were blessed with four wonderful children. Matt was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, Maumee and spent many years coaching for several basketball seasons and assisting with CYO Football. He was also active coaching baseball and softball with the Anthony Wayne schools, where his children played. In his spare time, Matt enjoyed golfing. Most importantly he was a devoted and loving husband and father, son and brother, cherishing the time spent with his family.

Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly (Burdo) Veronica. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara A. Veronica; children, Matthew A. Veronica, Jr., Paul Steven Veronica, Nicholas Ryan Veronica and Beth Ann Veronica; sister, Gina (Dave) Patro; brother, Mark (Laura) Veronica; father, Nicholas Veronica; nephews, Eric, Tony and Scott Veronica; aunt, Ginny Utendorf; father and mother- in-law, Joseph and Cindy Tesznar; sisters-in-law, Teresa (Todd) Stremmel and family and Sandra Harsh and family. Also surviving are many dear and special friends.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Parish, Perrysburg. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
