Mason Donald Smith, born April 7, 2011, age 12, passed away peacefully into the Lords arms, Monday, January 29, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Mason courageously fought his battle against spina bifida, and much more, for twelve years, each year with a bigger smile on his face and more love in his heart.
Mason was full of strength, determination and bravery. He will always be remembered for his resilience and the happiness he always shared. He was a sixth grader at Devaux Elementary, where he loved to learn new things and make friends. Mason waited eagerly every morning for the school bus to arrive, where he was always welcomed with open arms full of love by the bus driver, helpers and friends. When Mason wasn't at school, he loved being social, flirting with the pretty ladies or getting all the attention, but most of all, spending time with his family. Masons smile lit up a room and his big beautiful eyes would draw you in. He enjoyed playing games, such as Sonic All Stars on the PS3, with his younger brother, Marley and playing make believe every morning with his younger sister, Bailey. He was always excited for his big sister, Rae, to visit ad spend quality time with him, especially if his nephew, Christian was there too! Mason loved nothing more than to be an uncle to Christian. The bond between Mason and his siblings can never be broken. He spent weekends watching sports with his father, Melvin and spending the evenings doing his favorite activity, cuddling with his mom, Tamara, on the couch, watching movies past his bedtime. So much love was shared between Mason and all of his family members.
Mason will always be thankful for the love, care and special attention he received over the years from all of those who helped care for him. Please remember his smile, love, and beautiful eyes. He will forever be in your heart.
Those left to forever cherish Mason are his loving parents, Tamara and Melvin; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Susan Smith; paternal grandmother; Pauline Featchurs; brother, Marley; sisters, Rae and Bailey; nephew, Christian; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mason was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by his sister, Brooklyn Smith; great grandparents, the Cousinos and the Brenners; aunts, Becky, Jennifer, and Teara Smith; nephew, Julian; as well as many other loved ones.
