Maryann Zawisza

Maryann Lewandowski Zawisza, age 93, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born on March 23, 1931, to the late Michael and Mary (Bugan) Lewandowski.

She attended Sherman grade school and Woodward High School.

On June 22, 1957, she married Charles Zawisza. Together they raised five beautiful children.

Maryann worked as a cashier at Big Bear on Cherry St and A&P on Lagrange St. and then she worked as an associate for 25 long and dedicated years at K-Mart.

Maryann loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She would decorate her home with wonderful, beautiful Christmas decorations and preparing a good old fashion polish holiday dinner. She loved to sing. As a young girl, she competed in several talent contests. Maryann also loved to polka dance and travel.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving family: daughters, Sandi (Tom) Banasiak, Cyndi (Jeff) Burks, and Karen (Ron) Tietjen; son, Ronald Zawisza; daughter-in-law, Karen Zawisza; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Herman, Rose Schmitz, and Phyliss Hanna; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Lewandowski and Judy Zawisza.

In addition to her parents, Maryann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Zawisza; son, Michael Zawisza; sister, Stella; and brothers, Michael Lewandowski, Robert, Richard, and Daniel.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. At 4:00 pm, a memorial service will take place.
