Mary Szareko passed away peacefully in Hospice care on Wednesday March 3rd, 2021. Mary continued to enjoy life each and every day despite losing her husband Ron back in 2018.
She spent a year at Kingston Senior Living Center and made many new friends while also keeping the staff on their toes with her zany wit and charming personality. She then moved to Alexis Gardens Retirement Community where she thrived once again, making many more new friends. The staff lovingly referred to her as one of their more "animated and colorful" residents! She was always ready for a Monday game of Pennies-in-the-Pot, a Sunday game of Bowling with Manager Jim, and ANYTIME Bingo was available! She especially enjoyed weekly Bingo night out at Little Flower Church with her friends Mary Lee and June. With her sons Ron and Steven being thrust into being her primary care givers, they were able to spend so much more time with her and form a special bond which they will cherish forever. Even at the age of 80, she especially loved a Sunday afternoon out at her son Ron's favorite watering holes watching Steelers games, meeting his friends, and of course, having a Miller Lite or two ("I'm a lady so I'll need a glass to pour that beer in please!").
She will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Catherine and her brother John (Shirley), her husband and partner Ron, her daughter Debra (John), and brothers-in-law Mike Perfetti (Donna), and Dale Szarejko (Jane).
She is survived by her sons Ron and Steven Szareko, William Heasley, and her grandson Noah Quintero. Also, sisters Rose Melpolder, Theresa (Lou) Byers, Frances, Catherine and brother Wenzel, sisters-in-law Donna Perfetti and Jane Szarejko, brothers-in-law Rich, Greg, and Dan (Sally) Szarejko, as well as many nieces and nephews.
