Mary Carolyn "Carol" (Icenhour) Simon

Carol Simon was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on June 11, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born on Oct. 3, 1936 in Lenoir, NC to Sherman and Mary Lee (Hartley) Icenhour. Carol and her family moved to Toledo, OH in 1950 where she attended Woodward High School. She married her first husband in 1954 and was blessed with three children. On Nov. 28, 1964, she married Robert Simon in Toledo where they raised their blended family.

Carol will be remembered for her legacy of faith. Her greatest desire was for her family to know Jesus the way she did. She shared her faith with everyone and was a beautiful example of His love.

Family time was very important to Carol. She cherished the memories of camping with Bob and their children when they were young. Hospitality was her love language. Over the years, Carol hosted many family gatherings welcoming everyone into her home to enjoy her wonderful southern cooking.

She worked several different jobs in her lifetime, but her gift was caring for and helping others in their time of need.

She is survived by her children, Ken (Janice) Zraik, Kathy (Rick) Pidcock, Mike (Michele) Zraik, Rob (Renee) Simon, Steve (Sue) Simon, Ricky (Sue) Simon, 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, as well as her brother-in-law John (Karen) Simon.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, her parents, and her three sisters Jean, Genelle, and Camilla.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Visit will continue on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Northwest Baptist Church, 3906 West Alexis Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623 from 10:30 am until the time of the funeral at 11:00 am, with Pastor Andrew Edwards officiating. Carol will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
