Mary would always say it was in the good book when you are to be born and the day you pass on. So on this day, Monday, September 23, 2013 at 9:15 p.m. was her date to enter the Gates of Heaven to meet her-maker after a long bout with Alzheimer's.
Mary's work record started at the Tic Tock on St. Clair St. (remember Tic Tock); 5th Third Bank and many years at A.P. Parts where she met a host of her friends. These friends met every year for many years, especially best friends Kathy Busch and Karen Kowalski.
Her grandchildren were extra special during the holiday's, enjoying card games after a good meal. Mary looked forward to the love they provided to her. She was a good natured person, she didn't have a mean bone in her body. She loved her cruises, bowling and western square dancing and all the trips she took from over the years.
Mary was a special person to her heart broken husband of 60 years, Donald Jorris; loving daughter, Diana (Jim) Avaritt; son, Michael Jorris; grandchildren, Robert (Kathy) Russell, Bradley (Andrea) Russell and Taylor Jorris; great-grandchildren, John, Dru and Preston; also left to cherish her memory, sister in laws, Joan Osmialowski and Ketchie Brassel; brother in law, Saiid Shaheen. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Laverne, Gloria and Elaine; brothers, Bill and Dick Brassel.
Her family wishes to express the excellent care she received from Foundation Park and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Whatever the nurses and staff receive is not nearly enough for the compassionate care they give.
The family will receive guests on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please consider the Alzheimer's Association: Northwest Ohio Chapter.
