Mary Magdalene Price

April 7, 1936 — June 9, 2021

Mary Magdalene Price "Peggy" age 85, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born April 7, 1936, the youngest child of 10 children of Edgar and Bertha Sheets in McComas, WV.

Not long after graduating Northfork High School in WV, Peggy decided to take a position in Detroit, MI at Piggly Wiggly Markets and stayed with her sister Wilma's family. While working and learning bookkeeping, she met the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Price. After a short courtship; they married on June 8th 1957. They began a 47 year love story of the best kind; committed partners who were always there for each other in good times and hard times. They settled in Rochester, MI for a while where they welcomed 2 children to their family. Dick took a position in Toledo in 1963 and they lived on Eleanor Ave for a short time as they waited for their home to be built on Lincoln Green in Holland, OH. Peggy remained in that home until she recently took ill. After arriving in Holland, Peggy took a part time position with Marek's Supermarket so she could stay home with their young children, Lori and Steven. In 1967 she began her career as an office bookkeeper with the Kroger Company; starting out at the Westgate location in Toledo. She worked over 30 years and at 2 other Toledo locations before her retirement in 1998.

Peggy was a woman of great faith and prayer, devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and worshipped at various churches in Toledo through the years; including Monroe Street United Methodist, Asbury United Methodist, Westgate Chapel and for most of the last 40 years at Holland Free Methodist Church, Holland. Her great love of Gospel music is reflected in that she participated in music ministry when possible and even sang in a local touring gospel group when she was a teen. She was previously active in the Springfield community working in earlier years with the Strawberry Homecoming Committee that puts on the Strawberry Homecoming Festival and Parade every year and volunteering with the Springfield High School Band Boosters. She remained active with the Local 954 Toledo Retail Clerks International Union (RCIU) Retires group.

Peggy was a generous, wise woman with great wit, a love of reading and doing various word & Jumble puzzles to stay sharp & focused. She loved going to Tavares, FL as a snowbird and staying active with her many good friends at the Holiday Mobile Home Park; which she did for many years until 2016. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, which also includes traveling to tour Israel with family in 2005. Memorable celebration parties her family threw for her included her surprise 60th birthday bash in '96 and hosting a 40th wedding Anniversary dinner for her and Dick in '97.

Peggy was preceded in death by her dearly devoted husband, Richard "Dick"; her beloved son, Steven; her parents, Edgar and Bertha Sheets; all 9 of her siblings and an unborn great grandbaby, Eden Lane.

Remaining to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lori (James) Young of Oak Harbor, OH; her daughter-in-law, Diane Sohnly of Toledo; six grandchildren, Chester (Kristina) Young of Clyde, OH, Denton (Alayna) Young of Oak Harbor, OH, Aaron (Eve) Young of Oak Harbor, OH, Garrett (Blythe) Price of Columbus, OH, Audrey Young of Oak Harbor, OH & Brittani (Joshua) Barrett of Coalmont, TN, plus her "adopted" Grandson and Granddaughter; Mark Villarreal of Columbus, OH and Mark's mother, Liz Villarreal Rowe of Sylvania, OH; four great granddaughters, Elora, Lilah, Briella and Ameliyah, all of Clyde, OH.
