Mary L. Whalen, age 81, went to be with her Lord and savior on April 9, 2011 at Bowling Green Manor, Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born January 28, 1930 to Felix and Louise (Heidet) Aubry in Toledo, Ohio. Mary was a 1948 graduate of Woodward High School. She was employed at Kreske's, Lampson's, Montgomery Ward's and Lion Store and was an Interior Decorator for Lamson's and Montgomery Ward's retiring in 1996. Mary enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking, jewelry making, gardening, floral arranging, traveling, playing the organ and searching for antiques at area flea markets. She was a Born Again Christian and knew the Lord since 1940. Mary was a past member of Calvary Assembly of God.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Howard T. (Donna) Whalen, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia L. (Joseph) Hatas; grandchildren, Laura (Andrew) Hall and Sean Whalen; great grandchildren, Evan and Evelynn Hall; granddogs, MacLeod and Shadow Whalen; Darby and Haley Hatas; special pets, Dottie and Sweetie Bird; sisters, Gloria Wolin and Dolores (Raymond) Slomka, Sr. and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Howard of 55 years and several half brothers and half sisters.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 9-11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 heather downs Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Estep. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
