On Friday, December 5, 2014 beloved mother and grandmother Mary Louise (Cumming) Lewis, age 87, of Toledo, passed away at Heartland of Waterville surrounded by her loving girls. Mary was born to Charles L. and Nellie (Miller) Cumming in Findlay on March 14, 1927. She was the eldest of 9 children.
Mary was a wonderful homemaker and cook. Her greatest love was giving joy to others. Mary loved having family and friends for a home cooked meal. She kept an immaculate home but always made time for others. Mary loved having her nieces and nephews over to go to the drive in movies. She dearly loved taking time out to make snow angels with her daughters and later in life with her granddaughter. Mary loved them all. She was a caregiver, taking care of her sister and nephew, mother, uncle and later in life her husband.
Mary was married to the love of her life Melvin B. Lewis who preceded her in death on April 4, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Sr., Eugene, Orval and Robert Cumming; sisters, JoAnn Drouillard, Janet Bassett, Carol Krueck and Sally Cumming.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Penny (Doug) Danyko and Melanie (Bob Farmer) Moore; her most beloved granddaughters, Michele (Kat Householder) Lewis; her best friend of 76 years, Barbara Lasko; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo (419-473-0300). A Celebration of Life will begin Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Deacon Don Clark from Calvary Lutheran Church, Northwood. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of Mary's nurses and caregivers at Heartland of Waterville, especially, Bonnie Jackson and Tina Witick and to Trudi Baumgardner with Heartland Hospice for all of their love, care and support given to Mary and her family through this difficult time. And also to Don and Mary Ann Clark for their extra special love and support, walking with us through this difficult time.
