Mary Jo Laroe

Mary Jo Laroe, age 73, of Holland, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, on February 27, 2025. She was born August 10, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Robert and Virginia (Eckenrode) Rippel.

Mary Jo was a proud graduate of Bowsher High School, class of 1969. She married her husband Robert on August 14th, 1971. Together, they lived most of their life in West Toledo.

In her free time, Mary Jo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her passion for dogs was evident, as they were her constant companions and source of happiness. She also had a deep appreciation for nature's beauty, especially when it came to tending to beautiful flowers. 

Mary Jo created countless memories with her beloved Robert, from their adventurous outings on the boat, to going to see movies together. They were not just partners but true companions.

Mary Jo will be missed, but her legacy of love of simple things in life will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving husband and tireless caretaker, Robert Laroe; daughter, Tina (Kirk) Susor; twin granddaughters, Megan and Kylie Susor; siblings, Donna (Robert) Burkhardt and Jim (Jeanne) Rippel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy De la Garza.

Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43614 on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Mary will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, where a private family service will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Toledo Humane Society, the Ronald Mc Donald House of Northwest Ohio, or other preferred charity.
