Our loving mother Mary Jane Solt(Chikodrof), 76, has passed on to fulfill
her spiritual life on January 4, 2009. The love she so effortlessly gave is only part of why she was so easy to love. Even when time had taken away so much,
her grace, kindness, humor and joyful might has endeared her in the hearts
of many. Mary and Warren married in 1950 and raised their family in Oregon,
Ohio. Their family consists of Michael(Donna) Solt and his children, Ryan,
Martin, Paulina, and David; Connie Dunn (Bill) and their daughter, Averil
Burpee (Steve); and Cathy Van Matre(Frank) and their children, Samuel,
Niomi, and Josie. Mary and Bud retired to Florida in 1973 and returned
to Toledo in 2000, and Bud (Warren)proceeds in death (2002). Mary was the
last of the Chikodrof family of Don's Ice Cream Store in East Toledo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vera(1996) and Don (1982) Chikodrof,
siblings James Chikodrof (1998) and Evelyn Kosta (2005). Mary also leaves
to hold memories, sisters/brothers-inlaws and many nieces and nephews.
Mary's life had been further enriched by daily loving care at her home of
six years at Parkcliffe Community and her final days with Heartland Hospice.
Arrangements are being made by Newcomer Funeral Home.
Memorial Services will be at 3:00 pm January 10,2009 at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Her Journey
This Journey, Like Her Many Other
Ones She Brings Her Family Along.
She Brought The Family To The World
And The World To The Family.
We As A Family Must Now Bring
The World To Her.
And Being Mindful That Her Journeys
Into Our World Are Limited.
Our Journeys To Her World May Be
A Difficult Challenge,
But They Are No Greater Than
The Challenges She Overcame For Us.
There Is No Schedule For This Journey
And She May Get Lost,
But We Can Help Her Find Her Way.
