Mary Helen (Werner) Baz, age 85, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at home surrounded by loving family. She was born on September 22, 1928 to Earl and Violet (McCune) Werner in Toledo. Mary was a homemaker for most of her life until the age of 50 when she went back to college and earned her real estate license and practiced for 10 years. She was a 69 year member of St. Elias Eastern Orthodox Church where she was the first woman board member and created a teen youth group. Mary was also a former member of Fort Industry Chapter #391 initiated in 1966 along with her husband, Joseph T. Baz, a 32nd degree Free Mason. She enjoyed gardening and loved dogs. Mary will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her; her memory will be eternal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Baz. Mary is survived by her son, Daniel R. Baz, retired decorated Toledo Police Officer; daughters, Samira Faye and CeCe Bazel; family friend/almost daughter, Tammi Busdieker; 3 grandsons; 1 great-grandson; and cousin, Olleene "Denny" Barber.
Graveside Services will take place Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560 meeting at the front gates. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
