Mary Catherine "Cathy" Bedee

Cathy Bedee, age 69, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away on April 29, 2016 surrounded by her family. Cathy was born in Toledo to Frederick J. and Emma (Masler) Michaels. A 1964 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Cathy met and married James W. Bedee, a marriage that lasted 47 years until his death in 2015. Cathy worked for the Robert Fruth Company and then became a loyal employee of The Financial Design Group until her retirement. She had a curious mind and loved taking Lifelong Learning Classes at Lourdes University. Cathy was well read, particularly in current national affairs. She loved to entertain family and friends and had an indomitable spirit. Those who knew Cathy were amazed by her tenacious love of life and family as she bravely battled kidney disease for many years. Cathy was a member of Christ the King Parish.

Cathy is survived by her sons, Scott (Jennifer) Bedee, Jason Bedee and Eric (Carrie) Bedee; five grandchildren, Cortney Lane, Emma, Ben, Rilee and Drew Bedee; sisters, Jean Raker, Susan (Robert) Schaad, Lillian (Michael) French and Barbara (Alfred) Elias; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by many beloved in-laws. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Leah A. Foust; and brother, Gary J. Michaels.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
